When you visit Women's Health of Las Colinas, you become a member of our close-knit community. We take time to support you and navigate your pregnancy journey together. Our goal is to thoughtfully provide the prenatal and postpartum care you need so you can enjoy this special time of your life.
Our prenatal and postpartum services
Our caring obstetrician-gynecologists (OB/GYNs) provide focused, personalized services before, during and after your pregnancy.
Procreative counseling
If you are thinking about getting pregnant, scheduling a visit with our physicians is the first step. During your appointment, we can discuss any lifestyle changes you want to make, including reviewing current medications and managing pre-existing health conditions. We can also address any fertility concerns you have. Most of all, we bring our attentive, responsive approach to every visit, striving to help you feel calm and cared for.
Our prenatal care
Our prenatal services include caring for you during both routine and high-risk pregnancies. Regular prenatal visits include a physical examination, blood pressure, stomach measurements and monitoring weight gain. Some visits might include blood or urine tests.
You will typically begin prenatal visits with us somewhere between six to 12 weeks. Appointments would then be scheduled every four weeks during your first and second trimesters. Visits are scheduled more often as you approach the end of your pregnancy.
High-risk pregnancy care
There are many reasons why your pregnancy might be considered high-risk. Your pregnancy may need extra attention if you have a high-risk condition or concerns, such as:
- Abnormal placenta position
- Fetal abnormalities
- Pregnancies over the age of 35 (Advanced Maternal Age)
- Gestational diabetes
- Multiples (twins, triplets, etc.)
- Past miscarriages
- Past premature births
- Past stillborn births
- Preeclampsia (high blood pressure)
- Mother with a pre-existing health condition
Although this can be distressing, we want to ease your fears by answering all of your questions, listening to your concerns and getting you the care you need. In addition to routine prenatal services, your visits might include seeing specialists such as dieticians or sonographers. If this is the case, we will be here to help you get all the care you need.
Our postpartum care
We believe postpartum care is an essential part of your pregnancy journey. In the days after your childbirth, we offer attentive follow-up care for you and your baby as you bond.
Whether you had a vaginal or Cesarean birth, one of our top priorities is ensuring your body begins to heal properly. If you are breastfeeding, your care team will be available to provide hands-on lactation support. Follow-up appointments are scheduled before you leave, and we are available to answer your questions during this time of new experiences.
